This is the album I had to make

Shmeeze,

This is the album I had to make. After you were gone, I was rudderless. I didn’t know who I was making music for anymore. You were my best friend and the first person I showed my music too That’s where Féven comes in. You never met her but I think you would really like her. She had early demos of this music and told me how important they were to her. That’s when I realized it was now for her. I’m making Dream Pop for a Black Woman. Dream Pop for Black People.

She made the album artwork and helped me every step of the way. So did Nick Bassett. He was the guitarist in those bands I would always try to show you, Whirr, and Nothing. Basically the guy I was repeatedly sampling the last few years of your life. He co-produced and mixed and mastered the whole joint.

Morgan too. She was instrumental in helping me conceive and finish this record. We would spend hours talking about Black Liberation, life, love and you a lot too actually. She misses you a ton. She’s still here, like she’s always been, and connects me to the halcyon days of our growing up in Park Hill, and myself frankly.

I know you want the bars, and maybe I’ll bring em back, but maybe I won’t. Maybe you’ll love this album, or maybe you won’t. Either way bro, I just need you to be happy for me. I’m off the drugs, I’m happy and I’m making the music I always wanted to make.

Your mom really likes the album LOL.

For real though!

She gave me the studio you bought and that’s what I made this on. I tried so hard to make rap songs with it. I couldn’t.

I’m Sorry.

Please Forgive Me.

I Thank you

I Love You.

And fuck bro. I miss you. I miss the fuck out of you.

YONNAS.
